FAQ
Questions, Answered Plainly.
The questions we are asked most.
General
Not for a first conversation. If you would like to meet a particular dog we do ask you to book, so we can give you unhurried time together and make sure that dog is not out on a walk when you arrive.
Please do. Most families visit two or three times, and we would rather you were certain than quick. Second visits are often more useful than the first, because the dog is calmer and shows more of their real character.
Enquiries
One of our team replies personally, usually within a working day. We will ask about your home, your routine and who else lives with you. It is a conversation, not an application form.
No. Nothing is reserved until we have met and both agreed it is the right match. If someone else enquires about the same dog we will tell you honestly where things stand.
Health
Every dog is health checked and vaccinated appropriately for their age before they are listed. The full record comes with them, and we will walk you through what is done and what is next.
Tell us. We keep records for every dog and will share everything we know. We can also point you to vets we trust in most major cities.
Matching
Because breed is a poor predictor of what a dog is actually like to live with. Two dogs from identical backgrounds can have completely different energy, tolerance and temperament. We match on the individual dog: their pace, their character, their needs.
We start with a conversation rather than a form. Tell us about your space, your daily routine, how long the dog would be alone and who else lives with you. Because we know each dog’s energy, how they handle noise and how they are around children, we can point you to the ones who genuinely fit — and say so plainly when a dog you have taken a liking to is not one of them.
After Adoption
We check in during the first week, the first month and the third month, and you can call us at any point in between. Most questions are about settling, feeding or the first vet visit, and none of them are too small.
Talk to us early. Most difficulties in the first month are normal adjustment and pass with support. If it truly is not right, we would always rather take the dog back than have anyone struggle in silence.
Practical
We prefer you to meet the dog in person first. After that we can help arrange safe, accompanied travel for most destinations. We do not put dogs on long journeys alone.
A bed, two bowls, a collar with an ID tag, a lead, the food they are currently on, and one quiet space that is entirely theirs. We send a full checklist once a match is agreed.
